From Celine Dion to the Super Bowl Madonna Show

2011 was an excellent year for Moment Factory. One highlight was, of course, the April opening of C?line Dion’s new show in Las Vegas, for which Moment Factory produced the multimedia elements, followed by the work on the illuminated balls for the Arcade Fire concert at the Coachella Festival. There were many other projects and highlights in 2011, here are some of them:
Last April Moment Factory received the Quebec Company of the Year Mercuriade Award and then later in October was given two more honours: the Fast 50 and Fast 500 awards. These awards, presented by Deloitte, celebrate companies’ technological innovation, growth and entrepreneurial spirit in the technology, media and telecommunications field.

In November Moment Factory signed a contract with Euronews, for the design of the indoor multimedia elements of the all-news network’s new main building, slated to open in Lyon in 2014. The cornerstone of the European news channel’s future world headquarters was laid in November, in the city’s La Confluence business district. According to Le Progr?s, the building is “a symbol that will become a highly visible reality in 2014, an apple-green structure [with six floors and 10,000 m? of floor space] by Jakob + MacFarlane, architects. With this building, Euronews is giving itself a ‘made in Lyon’ boost.”

For Christmas, travellers and passers-by in Toronto’s Union Station experienced the holiday season’s magic come to life with the appearance of a giant tree in the middle of the train station. Engaged by the Tribal DDB agency on behalf of Canadian Tire, Moment Factory created a 30-foot interactive Christmas tree whose decorations lit up as more and more Christmas messages are shared online. When the Christmas spirit reaches its peak, the tree will take on its brightest glow. Website visitors could also interact with the tree triggering a spiral of blue lights and could watch the effect live via webcam by visiting christmasspirittree . ca

Moment Factory used its X-Agora interactive software to convert Christmas messages into a dazzling display of coloured lights on the tree. First, the Web is searched for messages, articles, blog posts and other content containing Christmas-related keywords. Then the information is collected and sent to the tree for visualization. Colourful garlands of lights are lit to reflect the relative number of messages exchanged in each medium and in real time: white for social media, red for blogs and forums, green for news media and blue for activity on christmasspirittree.ca.

Super Bowl Madonna
In December the NFL announced Moment Factory will collaborate with Madonna and Cirque du Soleil to create a spectacular multimedia environment for the Bridgestone 46th Super Bowl Halftime Show, set to air on NBC February 5th, 2012. The creative team for the show, comprising of Madonna, Jamie King, Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory, will create a signature performance for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the most-watched musical event of the year. For the first time of its history, the Super Bowl will take place in Indianapolis, more precisely at Lucas Oil Stadium. Don’t forget to save your Feb. 5 evening in front of your TV.
